Mary and I took this trip alone, shortly after she had recuperated from a heart issue that had plagued her for six months, ending with a miraculous discovery by Mayo Clinic of a hole in her heart in December of 2024 and followed by a repair procedure in January of this year. This trip started at Mayo Clinic where she had a follow-up visit, declaring her WELL and no need for further heart treatments. We left Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota on July 18 and made the short drive to Duluth at the southern-most tip of Lake Superior, the starting point for a drive along its North Shore. Although the mileage along the highway from Duluth to Canada is only a couple hundred miles, we took it slow over a period of seven days, staying at four very nice hotels/resorts, and B&Bs -- less time driving and more time exploring and sightseeing -- then took a leisurely three-day drive back home. All four places we stayed were fabulous, right on the shore with perfect views of Lake Superior. Unlike previous trips, I didn't take daily notes. So this blog is simply the best photographs of the trip.
